Tyer's Table and Book Signing with Mark Bachmann

Northwest Fly Fishing Legend, Mark Bachmann of The Fly Fishing Shop, visits for a special book signing and a stint at the Tyer's Table on Saturday, December 20th at 10:30. Copies of his book "The Virtue of Fly Fishing V2" will be available to purchase, and I'm sure Mark will be glad to sign copies from your collection.

For four decades, The Fly Fishing Shop in Welches was the go-to stop for anglers heading over to the Deschutes in the summer, or Sandy in the winter, for last-minute tackle needs or expert advice. One of the first full-time fly shops in the area, The Fly Fishing Shop was the gathering place for many years until Mark and Patty's "retirement" a few years ago.

About Mark:

Mark figures he was born lucky: in the USA, male gender, 07/17/1944 (after WWII was decided), (very lucky). Moved to a cattle ranch in Northern Idaho in 1951 and to Oregon in 1964. Worked for the Mt. Hood National Forest until 1970. Bought their current home in 1974 and formed a 51-year relationship with Patty Barnes the same year. They founded The Fly Fishing Shop in Welches, Oregon, in 1981and ran it until retirement in 2021. Mark and Patty owned a retail store, a leading fly-fishing website, a guide service, and fly-fishing schools for 40 years.

Mark is 81 years old, slightly above average in body size, and is 2 inches shorter and wider in girth than in peak condition. Many see him as intimidating. The fact is, he enjoys being engaged for reasonable periods, and really enjoys stimulating conversation.

Mark has a deep curiosity about things much of humanity tends to ponder: The wonder of it all, conservation of natural resources, the physical sciences, and the rationality and fear of extinction in an ever-changing world.

Please join us on December 20th at 10:30 for this very special event, and let's give Mark and Patty a warm Royal Treatment welcome!
