After crazy flows, extreme weather events, and a very up-and-down salmon fly season, the time has finally come for the Deschutes Float with the Canned Food Drive winners. With two boats ready to go and everybody geared up, we pushed off from Warm Springs on our voyage to Trout Creek.

The day got hot quickly which made for some excellent caddis hatches all day, however, there weren't many salmon flies around showing the end of their season. Fishing the shaded eddies and as close to structure as possible got our guests into some top water bites. Fish were selective but with a couple of fly changes and different approaches, we were able to crack the code to connect with a few feisty trout.

We had a delicious IN river lunch under a nicely shaded flat as the Boss busted out the Skottle and served up an awesome Taco Bar. I highly recommend you try it on your next outing if it's a scorcher and you're looking for a break during an all-day trip in the sun. After our tacos, some cookies, a little banter, and a recap of our fishing up until this point, we pushed off downstream.

We finished up the rest of the float with a few more fish, seeing wild horses and deer along the water's edge cooling off, and good laughs while recapping some of our personal highlights from the day.

Though the dry fly fishing wasn't red hot, we managed to land a few nice fish with dries and also had some consistent action with the euro rigs. All-in-all it was another great trip with some awesome people and more memories to share and relive together.

Now it's your turn to get out there and make some memories!
