Western Rivers Conservancy ~ Royal Treatment Yakima River Camp Trip

Royal Treatment and the Western River Conservancy are planning a camping/fishing adventure on the Yakima River July 22nd-24th.

This will be a BYOB (bring your own boat) event.

The Western Rivers Conservancy Lower Umtanam campground is located just a bit more than one-mile upstream from Red’s Fly Shop and less than a quarter mile downstream from the BLM Umtanum Recreational Area campground and day-use area on Washington Highway 821 that follows the Yakima River toward Ellensburg—just shy of a four-hour drive from Portland.

Most of the best fishing in July will be from a drift boat or raft casting hopper/dropper patterns to the bank of the river. Red’s Fly Shop is five minutes from camp and should have everything one needs to have successful fishing on the river if you forgot to stock up on your supplies at Royal Treatment before the trip. Red's rents rafts, drift boats, and run a shuttle service. We suggest if you want to book guides or rent boats for the outing do so ahead of time. There is a private launch/takeout site at camp, so there is an area nearby where folks can park their personal boats, trailers, etc.  It is pretty easy for us to run our own shuttles as well from the Bighorn or Ringler launch sites down to camp (you may need to purchase a WA Discover Pass to park at Ringler).  Red’s also has a first-class (but a bit spendy) restaurant on site if anyone wants to have a special meal one night—again, make reservations ahead of time.

We are reserving spaces on a first come basis. Camping will be $25.00 per night for 2 people, additional campers are $10, limit of 4 per site. All proceeds go to Western Rivers Conservancy. Space is limited to 25 campsites per night. Registration is open now, call the shop to sign up for your space. 503.850.4397
