Joel La Follette - Thursday, October 25, 2018

I'm thinking a helicopter would be awesome for the Native Trout-a-thon. Anyone have one I can borrow?

Trailer Trash Thursday Keep'em Wet Edition

Joel La Follette - Sunday, October 30, 2016

I've made a concerted effort in the last two years to only use images of fish that are photographed in the water unless they're jumping. All anglers need to be stewards of the resource and set an example for others by keeping fish in the water while they are recovering. Here's some great tips for photographing fish in the net from the guy who brought us #keepemwet

Trail Trash Thursday "Just around the bend" edition

Joel La Follette - Wednesday, February 17, 2016

As anglers we search the depths and hiding places of our favorite stream, looking for that one special fish. We cast one more time, wade deeper and wonder what lies upriver or down. We are explorers and that fish of a lifetime might be just around the bend. Go find him.

Trailer Trash Thursday "Keepemwet edition"

Joel La Follette - Wednesday, February 03, 2016

This week I grabbed a vintage F3T favorite by Bryan Huskey. I'm sure you will remember it fondly.  After the film, take a few minutes to check out Keepemwet Fishing and enter their Instagram contest. You could win a new Scott G2 fly rod!

As a young child on the Oregon Coast, then another decade in Central Oregon, there aren't many Oregon river banks that photographer and filmmaker Bryan Huskey hasn't scrambled along. The better part of a dozen more years in Boise, Idaho have provided the formative inspiration for his work, particularly photographing fish of these regions.

During a presentation in 2010 he coined the phrase "Keep 'Em Wet" encouraging photographers to get their cameras closer and leave fish in the water. With the rise of camera phones and social media he turned that phrase into #keepemwet, promoting better handling of fish photographed before release. Since then the tag has developed into a movement, and Bryan now devotes his time to promoting this awareness with Keepemwet Fishing. He is also an ambassador for Fishpond USA and member of Scott Fly Rods pro staff.

The Fly Fishing Film Tour is coming back to Portland on February 12th and we are going to give you the chance to score  tickets! There is no limit on the number of photographs you may enter, but all entries must conform to the following rules.

But wait, there's more!

Even if you don't win tickets  to the show you still have the chance at some awesome prizes, like this signed print from Bryan Huskey, the man behind #keepemwet and cool swag from Costa, Abel, Scientific Anglers, F3T and more. We are collecting a drift boat load of goodies and will be hosting an After Party at the shop on Saturday, February 13th from 11:00 until 2:00.  All Instagram entries will be eligible and we'll be handing out prizes to  the winners at the party. You must be present to win. The road crew for the fly fishing film tour will be on hand for the festivities to select the winning entries and we will probably have cake. Sounds like a great Saturday to me!

We're not done yet!

To add a little spice we're piggybacking our Instagram Contest with the folks at TU and Keepemwet Fishing. Enter your fish photos in both contests and double your chances of winning!
