Volunteers Needed for Salmon Watch

Joel La Follette - Wednesday, September 27, 2017

Salmon Watch Needs Volunteer Educators!

Salmon Watch is an award-winning outdoor education program that provides classroom curriculum, field trips, and service learning opportunities to middle and high schools in the Portland metro and Columbia Gorge regions.

This fall, Salmon Watch is hosting over 40 outdoor education field trips to beautiful salmon-bearing streams in Mt. Hood National Forest, Columbia River Gorge, and Tillamook State Forest where students will have the opportunity to witness salmon spawning in the wild, learn important concepts in ecology and environmental science, and develop a personal connection with their watersheds.

Volunteer Educators are needed to teach four field learning stations on each trip: Salmon Biology, Macroinvertebrate Identification, Water Quality Testing, and Riparian Zone Observation.

No experience is necessary. There will be a Volunteer Educator training on Friday, October 13 from 9am-1pm at Eagle Fern Park during which you'll learn all you need to know to teach a field trip station. If you can't make this training other arrangements can be made. Email Rachel Walsh.

Sign up to be a Salmon Watch Volunteer Educator today!

Thank you!
