Joel La Follette - Friday, April 08, 2016

Fly fishing. It's about 52 years harder than this guy makes it look. Meet him through the link in our bio. Shot by @JaredChambers.

The nice folks from Lincoln Motor Company rolled through town and stopped in for a visit wanting to learn more about our little fly shop. Check out the story on their website.

Trailer Trash Thursday "Keepemwet edition"

Joel La Follette - Wednesday, February 03, 2016

This week I grabbed a vintage F3T favorite by Bryan Huskey. I'm sure you will remember it fondly.  After the film, take a few minutes to check out Keepemwet Fishing and enter their Instagram contest. You could win a new Scott G2 fly rod!

Doc of The Drakes- "Hit 'em Again Doc!" 5 min Short from bryan huskey on Vimeo.

As a young child on the Oregon Coast, then another decade in Central Oregon, there aren't many Oregon river banks that photographer and filmmaker Bryan Huskey hasn't scrambled along. The better part of a dozen more years in Boise, Idaho have provided the formative inspiration for his work, particularly photographing fish of these regions.

During a presentation in 2010 he coined the phrase "Keep 'Em Wet" encouraging photographers to get their cameras closer and leave fish in the water. With the rise of camera phones and social media he turned that phrase into #keepemwet, promoting better handling of fish photographed before release. Since then the tag has developed into a movement, and Bryan now devotes his time to promoting this awareness with Keepemwet Fishing. He is also an ambassador for Fishpond USA and member of Scott Fly Rods pro staff.

Joel La Follette - Thursday, December 31, 2015

The Fly Fishing Film Tour is coming back to Portland on February 12th and we are going to give you the chance to score  tickets! Just Instagram your favorite fly fishing photo and you could be a winner. We will be giving away two tickets each week for the Portland show to some lucky hashtagger. All you have to do is follow @Royaltreatmentflyfishing and @flyfishingfilmtour on Instagram. Then post your photo and hashtag #keepemwet #f3tpdx #royaltreatmentflyfishing #flyfishingfilmtour. Winners will be chosen at random and announced in our weekly newsletter. Make sure you are signed up for the newsletter!

There is no limit on the number of photographs you may enter, but all entries must conform to the following rules.

All images must have a fly fishing theme.

No fish out of water. Photos of fish out of water will not be eligible for tickets or prizes. Please, keep’em wet.

No pornography. Entrants posting offensive or pornographic images will be blocked and disqualified.

No copyrighted images. Entrants must own and have the right to post images.

Entrants must be followers of @Royaltreatmentflyfishing and @flyfishingfilmtour on Instagram.

Deadline for entry is midnight on Friday, February 12th. Ticket winners will be chosen on Wednesday each week, so get your entries in now.

But wait, there's more!

Even if you don't win tickets  to the show you still have the chance at some awesome prizes, like this signed print from Bryan Huskey, the man behind #keepemwet and cool swag from Costa, Abel, Scientific Anglers, F3T and more. We are collecting a drift boat load of goodies and will be hosting an After Party at the shop on Saturday, February 13th from 11:00 until 2:00.  All Instagram entries will be eligible and we'll be handing out prizes to  the winners at the party. You must be present to win. The road crew for the fly fishing film tour will be on hand for the festivities to select the winning entries and we will probably have cake. Sounds like a great Saturday to me!

We're not done yet!

To add a little spice we're piggybacking our Instagram Contest with the folks at TU and Keepemwet Fishing. Enter your fish photos in both contests and double your chances of winning! Clink the rules below to find out how you could be fishing a new Scott G2 fly rod and a sporty Waterworks Lampson Litespeed reel.
