    Roving Dears Gear Library

Joel La Follette - Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Meet the Roving Dears, three fly fishin’ ladies with a heart for community, conservation, and beer. Their friendship was founded in Portland, Oregon and now spans across the Northwest.

They love to share their stories as novice fly fishers. They host outdoor shindigs, fundraisers, mentor new fly fishers, and write articles to cultivate engaged community. Addressing the intimidation factor of learning a new outdoor activity, they shamelessly share their trials and errors, and hard-won success.

"Starting out we were given a pair of XL waders with holes and boots 4 sizes too large. The three of us swapped in and out and shared one rod. While it wasn’t glamorous gear it did the trick and got us on the water.

Hand-me-down gear got us started and we want to pass along the favor. So, we’re starting the Roving Gear Library! We’re asking for any used gear which will be distributed across our three States.

The library will be listed on our website where folks can see what we’ve got for them to borrow without cost. We'll even throw in a lesson when the stars align. It’s that simple.

We believe this will give more people access to fly fishing and the outdoors. And from a conservation side, we will be recycling used gear and extending its use. This is grassroots activism which benefits our communities, the environment, and engages more participants for dialogue around public land and resource management.

If you have gear that you would like to pass on to help get a prospective fly angler on the water please drop it off at the shop and Joel will make sure we get it. Pass on your love of the sport by passing on some of your old gear."

If you would like to get ahold of us to donate gear, or borrow some, email us!

    Thanks for your help!
