Trailer Trash Thursday Roll Cast Edition

Joel La Follette - Thursday, May 10, 2018

With Salmonfly season upon us we find ourselves with our backs to the bushes or hanging out under trees. I though maybe you needed a little refresher on the roll cast from my buddy Simon Gawesworth to help keep you from sticking flies in the brush. You're welcome.

About ROAMERICA Campervan Rentals

ROAMERICA is the lovechild of two adventurous souls who met on the Oregon Coast in February 2010. In the beginning, it was all about traveling to find surf and deep snow without the crowds. They originally explored the Pacific Northwest in a 1998 Toyota truck with a canopy. It was great vehicle for accessing all sorts of amazing places but when it turned cold and wet, it became quite uncomfortable. They had always dreamt of having a vehicle that could keep them dry throughout the Northwest winters and allow them to access snowy mountains and desolate sandy beaches. Having a heater to warm up after cold surf sounded really nice, too. An RV was painful to drive, too big and could really only fit on a highway or in a Walmart parking lot, both places they desperately wanted to avoid. So when they stumbled upon a Sportsmobile campervan and realized it was the perfect solution, the dream behind ROAMERICA was born. In 2015, they started turning their dream into a reality, bringing campervan rentals to Portland, Oregon. Taylor and Gretchen want more people to be able to access the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

The Pacific Northwest is an absolutely incredible place to explore —beaches, volcanoes, deserts, rainforest, rivers, fishing, mountain biking, dirt biking, skiing, surfing, hiking, amazing food & wine. . . and COFFEE! The list just keeps going, and ROAMERICA is here to help you experience it all.

Visit the Roamerica Website for more information and to reserve your adventure!

Trailer Trash Thursday Quiet Edition

While sharing a day on the water with friends is enjoyable, there are times it's better to be alone.

Trailer Trash Thursday Green River Edition

Joel La Follette - Wednesday, April 11, 2018

Taken directly from a page in Hank Patterson's Guide to Making a Fly Fishing Film.... Please take notice of the "looking down the tail to make sure your fish is straight shot." That is a "must have" for any serious fly film maker.

I'm not going to weigh in on this bobber war deal with Josh and Nick. I'm just going to leave this video here for your perusal and slip off to pick up my new kayaks. I'm leaving now...

Pyramid Lake/Owyhee River Road Trip

Joel La Follette - Wednesday, March 21, 2018

Here are a few photos from my 1500 mile, 7-day road trip to Pyramid Lake and the Owyhee River.

I drove 30 miles on gravel to get here and wasn't about to turn around...

At times the wind was calm and peaceful.

And sometimes it blew...

Big fish are the payoff for casting for hours in the wind...

You just need to keep the fish off your ladder....

The colors in the desert are beautiful this time of year...

and they match my net.

Eric travels with his own paparazzi...

Sunrise and my first fish of the trip...

The Truckee River

Raising the bar on road trips...

Ethyl retired in '93 and moved to the desert for her health...

Sit awhile... maybe next time.

The cow was tied up and I'm pretty sure the monkey did it.

Thanks, my friend.
