Tegan Sheppard is part of a team of young girls who are trying to raise funds for their South Wasco County 4H Team to go to the Destination Imagination® Global Finals In Kansas City. Her parents, Marty and Mia are raffling off a fishing trip to help raise money. Marty will have 15 tickets for sale in the shop this Saturday for $50 and will draw the winner at once all tickets are sold. 

Winner gets a 2020 Sandy River Steelhead trip!


About the Thunderbolts...

We are a team of 6 girls called The Thunderbolts; we attend Maupin Grade School in Maupin, Oregon. We are excited to recently take first place in a state tournament called Destination ImagiNation Inc. (DI). Destination ImagiNation Inc. is an after-school activity, through the South Wasco Youth Program, that gives us a chance to put our imaginations to work; work as a team, and give back to the community. Our team was also awarded the Holmstrom Service Learning Award for demonstrating a solution with extraordinary impact in and beyond their community.
 
Here is some information about our program:
Destination ImagiNation, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides educational programs for students to learn and experience creativity, teamwork and problem-solving. Every year, they reach 100,000 students across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries. Student-teams solve open-ended "Challenges" and present their solutions at tournaments. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the Challenges. 

Our team chose the Service Learning Challenge, dedicated to engaging students in public service to address real-life community service. Our team chose to work with the Canyon Rim Senior Center in Maupin. We recognize that people in senior centers need companionship and friends. We visited the center, did art projects and talked with its seniors.

Our hard work paid off and now we have earned the opportunity and privilege to attend the Global Finals in Kansas City, Missouri from May 22-25th. We are extremely excited to go and represent not only Maupin, our grade school, Wasco County, but the state of Oregon, as well!
To attend Global Finals, we need help paying for the following: registration fee, travel to and from Kansas City, Missouri, food, lodging, and financial assistance for parents' lodging and meals. The estimated budget needed is $12,000.

We would like to request your assistance in providing this opportunity to us, students of Maupin Grade School, by donating what you can to get our team to the Global Finals. Your sponsorship of any amount would be greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible. The tax ID # is 82-3936817.
Because Global Finals is only 6 weeks away we need to secure funds quickly. Donations can be made by check or money order to: South Wasco Youth Programs, Inc. 

Please be sure to specify when donating that you want funds to go to The Thunderbolts Global Finals.
