Last week a toasty fire burned in the hearth here at Woodsprite Lodge, now the temp outside in the shade reads 98... what a difference a week makes here in the great Northwest!

As the temperatures climb so does the action on the Deschutes. For those willing to chug Gatorade all day and maybe even take a mid-day nap, the Deschutes has been producing some great fishing.

Caddis are the main fair and there are plenty of them. In the mornings look for dead caddis to pile up in back eddies making a great breakfast for hungry trout. Later as the temps rise try fishing through you favorite riffles with an emerger or adult. Don’t wear yourself out! Save a little for evening when things really get to rocking. Your favorite dry pattern should do the trick nicely as the sun goes down on another great day on the river. For a little extra action try a few short strips after the drift has played out. This mimics a diving caddis and a night night snack for Mr. Trout.

Summer steelhead fishing is in full swing on the North Umpqua and fish are showing at the mouth of the Deschutes for all you iron head anglers. Fish early, fish late and fish the shade during the day.

Great fishing on the Williamson right now and I’ve added a picture to prove it....This is my friend Karen St. Louis and a close friend of hers from her stay at Lonesome Duck last week... email me for more info mailto:joel@royaltreatmentflyfishing.com?subject=Williamson%20Rivershapeimage_4_link_0
