Belize has much the same type of flats that you find in Mexico’s Yucatan. Most of the following patterns work well in both places. A few are special to Belize and the Turneffe Island area. Take plenty of crab patterns in a wide selection of sizes and colors. I pack a few colored markers to modify my tan crab flies to match the bottom. Kind of a saltwater match the hatch. As with all Caribbean destinations be ready for Tarpon and other piscado with a selection of baitfish patterns. Lefty’s Deceiver is hard to beat.
