James Millard from OPST is in the house sharing his favorite Steelhead patterns....
James is the Operations Manager at Olympic Peninsula Skagit Tactics, and an avid fly angler who grew up in southern Oregon and became obsessed with anadromous fish at a young age. He has fly fished in the Pacific Northwest in one form or another since 1990, and picked up his first two-handed rod upon arrival in Eugene in 2008. From there his obsession had a new fuel, and he became singularly focused on two-hand casting shortly after. Upon joining the team at OPST, he began the journey that is single-hand Spey casting, which has quickly become a style of focus for him as well. He has been tying flies since the early 1990’s as well, and enjoys the calm and creativity that comes with tying the flies you fish. When not at work, the vise or on the river, James can be found hanging out chasing fish with his wife Jessie, their 3 boys and 2 crazy dogs in-between their two homes in Utah and Oregon.
