Portland Area Fly Fishermen to Recycle Christmas Trees as Salmon Habitat...

This holiday season Portland-area residents are again asked to recycle their used Christmas trees by letting a local nonprofit group turn the trees into salmon habitat. Christmas for Coho collects trees each January and places them in Oregon rivers to help enhance coastal coho salmon habitat.
Christmas for Coho is a project of the Tualatin Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited, based in Portland and its western suburbs. Trout Unlimited is a national organization with a mission to “protect, preserve and restore America’s coldwater fisheries.” TU is largely made up of fly fishermen and women who work to enhance fish habitat in their local chapter areas.

The tree collection dates this season are January 4th and 11th from 9am to 4pm next to Royal Treatment Fly Fishing (21570 Willamette Dr., West Linn OR 97068).

The cost is $10 per tree to cover transportation and other related expenses. To protect water quality, we regret that we cannot accept trees with flocking or tinsel.
